Restoration / Roofing

Description:
Graduate Housing, constructed in 1961.
Martin A. Benassi, AIA - Architect performed an exterior and interior survey of the Yale Graduate Housing facilities in New Haven, Connecticut. All exterior masonry, glazing compounds, sealants, roofing and windows were inspected in addition to an analysis of fire egress conditions relative to code compliance. As part of the survey, roof test cuts were made with samples sent for laboratory analysis and verification of material content. This information was used in determining remedial methods for repair and replacement. Careful inspection of window profiles and conditions also revealed the need for total replacement of storm windows, sashes, awnings, frames and glazing compounds totaling over 200 units. The buildings, originally designed by Paul Rudolph in 1961, are comprised of 50 individual apartment units and a family day care center. The roofing area totals 19,000 square feet.
