Description:
Originally constructed in 1929 this gothic masonry style church experienced continual masonry deterioration to both towers. Numerous repairs were made over the years with minimum success. Recently, large pieces of precast concrete fall presenting a potential safety hazard to the public.

The firm of Martin A. Benassi, AIA - Architect was retained to investigate the tower condition and prepare a study. The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the existing masonry conditions and provide possible repair options with related cost estimates. The decision was made to install two new steeples in addition to restoring the masonry on the exterior and interior of the towers.

Scope of work included:

  • Installation of two steeples and related internal structural framing
  • Extensive masonry restoration to both towers
  • Window glazing
  • Roofing, painting and miscellaneous related work
  • Cost of repair: $800,000
