Description:
The
historic Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam is a
19th century landmark in the state of
Connecticut and has been recognized internationally
as the home of musical theater and nationally for
its contributions to regional theater. Extreme time
constraints due to performance scheduling required
that the reroofing work be performed in just two
calendar days.
The firm of Martin A. Benassi,
AIA - Architect was retained to evaluate existing
conditions and make recommendations, prepare
contract documents, assist the owner in obtaining
bids and oversee construction. After a thorough roof
evaluation was performed, the decision was made to
use a fully-adhered, single-ply membrane over
mechanically attached rigid insulation. This system
provided the most cost effective solution while
working within the strict two day limit.
