Exterior Restoration / Survey

Description:
The University of Connecticut’s Alumni Quadrangle consists of five buildings (4 dormitories and a refectory), all in need of extensive exterior restoration. The University hired the firm of Martin A. Benassi, AIA - Architect to investigate and report on the existing condition of the buildings and provide recommendations along with cost estimates for the necessary remedial work. An extremely tight work schedule had to be met due to student occupancy.

Scope of work included:

  • Masonry repointing, replacement and repair
  • Roofing
  • Concrete patching and epoxy injection
  • Special coatings
  • Masonry through wall flashing along every floor
  • Sealant application
  • Cost of construction: $1,900,000.
