A Regional Vocational-Technical school in Ansonia had been undergoing a phased reroofing project.  The existing roof is a built-up hot asphalt roof.  For the current phase, the State of Connecticut's Department of Public Works retained the services of Martin A. Benassi, AIA - Architect to prepare a design for a new fully-adhered EPDM membrane on tapered insulation roofing system for portions of the roof over the auto shop, academic classrooms, and kitchen area.   The firm is also working with mechanical engineers to replace some of the obsolete rooftop mechanical units.

Scope of work includes:

  • Remove portions of existing roof
  • Install 34,000 square feet of new EPDM roofing system and related sheet metal
  • Replacement of roof drains
  • Miscellaneous masonry repointing at entry
  • Replacement of mechanical units

Estimated cost:  $500,000
